Hoda Hosseini

The brand “Orsham” was founded by Hoda Hosseini. Hoda’s dissertation was on the revival and promotion of silk handicrafts in Golestan Province in the northern Iran. She took residence in some villages of this Province for nine months to do her research. It was here that she came across a kind of silk thread called kajin, which the villagers considered as waste and threw away, however it was just as beautiful as the common silk. Modernizing the design, pattern, and width of traditional handmade fabrics while using this thread, Hoda increased the demand for them.

In 2015, with the help of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage Department of Golestan Province, Hoda started her small weaving workshop with two traditional weavers, and again in search of cotton and wool and yarn spinning people, she traveled to the villages of the Province. Almost all these people had lost their wheels, but Hoda managed to find a lady called auntie and brought her to the workshop every day to teach. All this led to the establishment of a fabric weaving workshop with thirty weavers and at last the starting of “Orsham” brand.
